Mary Elizabeth Showman, 27, truly enjoyed life and was a free spirit. When she graduated from high school she packed up her car and headed to Colorado where she worked as a server in the Ski resort areas around Dillon and Keystone.
Mary moved back to Minnesota and had dreams of opening a restaurant in her home town, but things just never came together as she hoped. Mary decided to go back to Colorado and ended up going to School in Denver and achieved her associates in Accounting and worked for a short time in an office doing that type of work.
But Mary found that she just was not making the money doing that as what she could when she was serving and she went to work at the Cinema Lounge. Mary was employed there when she was killed in May 1989.
Showman was very reliable so when she failed to go to work a few days in a row without calling in sick or giving any explanation her coworkers became worried and went to her apartment, according to a Rocky Mountain News article.
When the manager opened her apartment door they found her partially clothed body. An autopsy showed that she had been strangled. Her murder remains unresolved.
